Duvet line

One duvet, from down to dawn

Follow one duvet through our factory in Eindhoven and its four fully automatic duvet lines: how it is cut, quilted and filled, how it rides the hook line through the hall, and how it travels by lorry to a bed in Europe.

Scroll to follow the journey

01 / Materials

First the ticking, then the filling

You choose the ticking fabric and the filling: together they decide how warm a duvet is and how it feels. We follow one in downproof cotton batiste, filled with white goose down.

Ticking

  • CottonBatiste or percale: light, breathable, downproof
  • Bamboo viscoseSilky and cool, for warm sleepers
  • LyocellSmooth and moisture-wicking, from eucalyptus wood pulp
  • MicrofibreLight, quick-drying, budget-friendly

Filling

  • DownGoose or duck down: light and warm
  • Synthetic fibreHollow or nano gel fibre: airy and washable
  • Wool and bambooNatural fillings: warm and moisture-regulating

02 / Cutting

Over two metres of fabric, cut to the millimetre

An automated cutting table cuts top and bottom panels more than two metres long from dozens of layers of ticking at once. Each order’s pattern is nested so that as little fabric as possible is left over.

03 / Quilting

Quilted, so nothing shifts

A multi-needle quilting machine stitches the pattern through both layers of ticking in a single pass. Boxes or channels then keep the filling evenly spread, night after night.

04 / Filling

Chamber by chamber, to the gram

For down, the filling machine weighs out each portion and blows it into the ticking chamber by chamber, so that every box is equally full. Fibre duvets are filled on the same line and closed the same day.

05 / Inspection

Scanned, measured and weighed

On the overhead line, just under the roof, every duvet travels to inspection: through a needle detector, then checked for size, weight and seams. On top of that, each batch is sampled to AQL at final inspection.

06 / Labelling

Your brand, or ours

Under Mont Blanc, our own brand, the duvet goes on sale with our woven label in its corner and our insert card in the bag. As private label, it carries your brand on the label, the card and the bag, designed with our help.

07 / Packing

Folded, packed and ready for the shelf

The duvet is folded and goes into a clear bag with a handle and an insert card. It joins other duvets in an outer carton; in the shop, the bag goes straight onto the shelf.

08 / Warehouse

In stock, ready to leave

Cartons are stored on pallets in our own warehouse: AGVs take them to their places and our WMS tracks every carton and every pallet. Orders received before the cut-off are normally loaded onto a lorry at the dock the same day.
