What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, tablet or phone through your browser. Similar techniques, such as your browser’s local storage (localStorage) and session storage (sessionStorage), work the same way: the website keeps something on your device and reads it back later. This statement covers both.
What this website stores
We have checked exactly what this website keeps on your device. This is it — nothing more:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
hmg_brand | Cookie, functional, from this website | Remembers that you have entered the password for the brand assets, so that page and its logo files stay unlocked. Only set when you enter that password. Holds no personal data: just a signed code that shows the password was entered. | 30 days after you enter the password |
hmg:consent:v1 | Local storage, necessary, from this website | Remembers your choice in the cookie banner — whether you allow statistics and marketing — and when you made it, so that we do not ask on every visit. Holds a version number, a yes or no for statistics and for marketing, and the date. Only stored once you choose. | No fixed period: until you change your choice or clear your browser’s storage |
hmg:quote-draft:v1 | Local storage, functional, from this website | Keeps your answers in the production enquiry as a draft, so that you can continue later. Stays on your device and only reaches us when you submit the enquiry. | Until you submit the enquiry, start over or clear your browser’s storage |
hmg:perf | Local storage, functional, from this website | Remembers whether you chose the lite or the full view of the website with the ‘Lite view’ switch at the bottom of the page. Only stored if you use that switch. | Until you choose differently or clear your browser’s storage |
hmg:gpu | Local storage, functional, from this website | The result (‘hw’ or ‘soft’) of a one-time check whether your browser draws 3D with a real graphics chip or in software. On computers that cannot handle it well, the website uses it to choose the lite view by itself. The result stays on your device: nothing about your device is sent anywhere. | Until you clear your browser’s storage |
hmg:perf, hmg:gpu, hmg:quiet-reload | Session storage, functional, from this website | The same, for this visit only: the view for this visit (for instance when the 3D animations proved too slow on your computer), that your browser cannot draw 3D at all, and a flag that skips the intro when the page reloads after you switch the view. | Until you close the tab; the flag only until the next page |
Everything above comes from this website itself (first-party) and is not shared with anyone else. The only cookie is the one for the brand assets, and the website only sets it if you enter the password for them. Everything else stays on your device.
What we do not use
- no analytics cookies or statistics tools, such as Google Analytics;
- no advertising or retargeting cookies;
- no social media buttons, tracking pixels or embedded third-party content such as videos or maps;
- no cookies from other parties (third-party cookies).
The fonts are served from our own server. Only if you click ‘Get directions’ yourself does Google Maps open in a new window — on Google’s website, where Google’s cookies and privacy policy apply.
Your consent and the cookie banner
Cookies and similar techniques are governed by the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet, Article 11.7a), which implements the European ePrivacy rules. Storage that is needed for a service you ask for yourself requires no consent under that act — only clear information, which you will find on this page. In our assessment, all the storage above falls under that exemption.
On your first visit, a cookie banner asks what you allow, in three categories:
| Category | Purpose | In use today |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | What the website needs to work, as described above. Always on. | Yes: only the storage above |
| Statistics | Statistics on how visitors use the website, to improve it | No: we use no statistics tools |
| Marketing | Tailoring and measuring advertising, on other websites too | No: we use no marketing tools |
‘Accept all’ and ‘Necessary only’ sit side by side and look exactly alike: refusing is as easy as accepting. As we use no statistics or marketing tools, your choice does not change anything the website does today.
Should we ever use such tools, we will load them only after you have consented, name them here with their cookies and retention periods, and ask for your choice again. A ‘yes’ given earlier will not simply carry over.
Changing your choice
You can change your choice or withdraw your consent at any time with , at the bottom of every page. The banner then opens with the settings for each category; ‘Save my choice’ records your new choice.
If you clear your browser’s storage for this website, your choice goes too, and the banner asks for it again on your next visit.
Deleting or blocking cookies and local storage
You can always delete or block cookies and local storage yourself in your browser’s settings. You will usually find them here:
- Chrome and Edge — Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and site data;
- Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data;
- Safari on a Mac — Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data;
- Safari on iPhone and iPad — Settings › Safari › Clear History and Website Data.
The exact names vary between browser versions; your browser’s help pages describe the current steps. If you delete this website’s data, any brand-assets cookie, your cookie choice, the view settings and any draft of your enquiry are removed. You can also clear the draft with ‘Start over’ in the form.
If you block cookies and local storage, the website still works; the form just cannot keep a draft, a chosen view only lasts for this visit, the brand assets do not stay unlocked after the password, and the cookie banner asks for your choice on every visit.
