Pillow line

One pillow, from fibre to sleep

Follow one pillow through our factory in Eindhoven and its eight fully automatic pillow lines: how it is cut, sewn, filled, inspected and labelled, and how it travels by lorry to a bed in Europe.

01 / Materials

First the ticking, then the filling

You choose the ticking fabric and the filling: together they decide how a pillow feels and what it is for. We follow one in cotton percale with hollow, siliconised fibre.

Ticking

  • CottonPercale: crisp, breathable, hot-washable
  • Bamboo viscoseSilky, cool, moisture-wicking
  • LyocellSmooth, from eucalyptus wood pulp
  • MicrofibreSoft, easy-care, budget-friendly

Filling

  • Synthetic fibreHollow and siliconised: airy and washable
  • Natural fillingSuch as down: soft and mouldable
  • Memory foamMemory and speciality pillows: firm support

02 / Cutting

Cut to the millimetre

An automated cutting table cuts front and back panels from dozens of layers of percale at once. Each order’s pattern is nested so that as little fabric as possible is left over.

03 / Sewing

Sewn all round, but for one opening

The panels are joined with a dense, even stitch and the corners are reinforced. One short side stays open: that is where the filling will go in.

04 / Filling

Filled by weight, not by feel

A filling machine opens the fibre with air and blows it through the opening into the ticking. Each pillow is weighed and only sewn shut once the weight is right.

05 / Inspection

Measured, weighed and scanned

Every pillow passes through a needle detector and is checked for size, weight, seams and shape. On top of that, each batch is sampled to AQL at final inspection.

06 / Labelling

Your brand, or ours

Under Mont Blanc, our own brand, the pillow goes on sale with our woven label and a retail band. As private label, it carries your brand from label to packaging, designed with our help.

07 / Packing

Packed flat, full again on arrival

The pillow is vacuum-pressed flat in clear film and goes into an outer carton with others. This way, far more fits into a lorry, and once unpacked it springs back to shape.

08 / Warehouse

In stock, ready to leave

Cartons are stored on pallets in our own warehouse: AGVs take them to their places and our WMS tracks every carton and every pallet. Orders received before the cut-off are normally loaded onto a lorry at the dock the same day.
