In 1983, Cemal Aktas set up a bedding wholesale business. More than forty years later, HMG — Holland Manufacturing Group — makes pillows and duvets on eight fully automatic pillow lines and four fully automatic duvet lines, in a 12,500 m² building on Park Forum in Eindhoven. The company is still 100% family-owned, now in its third generation.

This is the story in between. Not out of nostalgia, but because it explains how we work today — and what you, as a buyer, can expect from a supplier that thinks in generations. A short introduction to who we are now is on our About us page.

1983 and 1994: from trade to our own production

HMG began as a wholesaler. A wholesale business sees the market from the customer’s side: what sells, in which sizes and at what price. That knowledge is where HMG started.

In 1994, Giyasetdin Aktas founded HMG as a manufacturing company. The trading business became a producer that adds value of its own: pillows and duvets from its own factory. A company that makes its own products decides on the filling, the fabric, the finish and the quality control — and can develop a product instead of only buying one in.

Our own brand has a long history, too: Mont Blanc has been HMG’s brand for natural, high-value bedding for more than 28 years. Alongside Mont Blanc, we make bedding under our customers’ own brands; you will find both in our range.

2000–2019: growth, at home and across Europe

The two decades that followed were about growth: more capacity, and customers in more and more European countries. In 2003, HMG moved into its first headquarters, a firm base for the growth that followed.

The result is the broad customer base HMG serves today: discount retailers, bedding specialists, retail chains and supermarkets, e-commerce and marketplaces, DIY stores and pet shops, and hotels and other contract customers. What stayed the same throughout: HMG remained a family business.

2021: the third generation takes the helm

In 2021, the third generation took over the management. With it began a strategic transformation in four directions. What has happened since:

  • Automation — in 2025, pillow capacity doubled to 25,000 a day, and three new duvet lines were installed: four in total.
  • Sustainability — a new, energy-efficient building with a GPR certification of 8.0, joined in 2026 by solar power and battery storage.
  • Capacity — eight fully automatic pillow lines and four duvet lines, good for up to 15 million pillows and 2 million duvets a year, and a warehouse that grew from 3,000 to 6,000 pallet positions.
  • International growth — customers in Europe, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States and Canada.

Through that transition, HMG has stayed what it was: a family business, 100% in family hands. That brings strategic independence, fast decisions and a long-term vision. There is no outside shareholder steering for short-term returns — investments in lines and buildings can pay off over years rather than quarters.

2024–2026: a new factory on Park Forum

In 2024, construction of HMG’s new headquarters began in Eindhoven. In 2025, pillow capacity doubled and three new duvet lines were installed.

In 2026, it all came together on Park Forum: a 12,500 m² building with a GPR certification of 8.0, 1,152 solar panels on the roof, battery storage of 4 × 239 kWh and a showroom. Production, warehouse, offices and showroom share one roof — the base for further international growth. More about the building and its energy is on our Sustainability page.

On the way to a smart factory

What is a smart factory? Broadly speaking: a factory in which machines, logistics and data are connected, so that production and stock stay in step and every stage can be measured. At HMG, the building blocks are already in place: fully automatic lines, automated filling and weighing, an advanced WMS, batch traceability and AGVs in the warehouse.

The next step is set out in our strategic roadmap. Our production layouts are robot-ready, and our target for 2027 is fully robotised pillow production. A target, not yet a reality — but a direction we are already building towards. How the factory works today is shown on our Production page and in a look inside our factory. Our roadmap rests on five pillars:

  • Full automation and robotics
  • Further cost optimisation
  • An independent European supply chain
  • Sustainable growth across all our markets
  • A next-generation smart factory

What stays: five values

Machines change and the company grows, but the way we work stays the same. Our mission: to provide reliable, scalable and sustainable bedding solutions through European manufacturing excellence. That mission rests on five core values:

  • Continuity — long-term ownership and strategic stability.
  • Reliability — consistent quality and dependable delivery.
  • Efficiency — cost control through automation.
  • Partnership — long-term cooperation with our customers.
  • Responsibility — sustainable and transparent production.

For a buyer, it comes down to this: a supplier that thinks in decades rather than quarters, with the family at the helm and a factory that can grow with your range. What the values mean in practice is set out in our philosophy.
